How is your business innovating and providing something new?
“Our business model is quite different from our competitors. DEFDISCO was conceived as a hybrid between a music company and a brand partnership agency. Our owner/partners come from both the music industry and advertising/marketing worlds respectively. Unlike our competitors, we control the rights ownership to the content we provide to our brand partners, rather than simply acting as a content aggregation service. On the flip side, it also means our represented artists are capable of gaining mass exposure and increased income in a quicker timeframe than they would from a more conventional record label model.”
What do you like most about working for your company?
“I enjoy working with the artists first and foremost, especially the new emerging artists. There are a lot of incredibly talented people who for various reasons aren’t able to make a living from that talent. So I find it fulfilling to be able to help provide guidance and assistance in developing their careers to a point where they no longer need to hold down a 9-5 job, but can truly say they are a ‘professional songwriter or performer’.”
What’s your favorite business travel destination?
“I always enjoy going back to London. I lived and worked there for 9 years before relocating to the U.S., so it’s good to go back and catch up with former colleagues and friends. And of course London just has a certain buzz to it that’s unlike any other city.”
What’s your favorite lunch spot or happy hour near Level Office Dallas?
“We often end up in the bar of The Palm. It’s a great place to meet a client for an after work cocktail or dinner.”
How does your team manage working remotely?
“Because we have people located in various cities and countries around the world, we tend to utilize a lot of technology to keep things running smoothly. Pretty much all the companies’ documents and files are housed in the Cloud so we can all access them from wherever we are, and we use Google Hangouts several times a day for meetings and calls.”
