Tell the story of how your business was founded.
“Bender Law provides compassionate legal counseling. Unfortunately, many families are coerced into hiring a slick attorney who sells them an oversized, cookie-cutter plan at an absurd cost. The best advice we give our clients is: Avoid the Factory Firms that treat estate planning like a commodity. That’s why I chose to open my own firm. Unlike big firms, I have very little overhead so I am able to provide the best value, and most importantly, I am able to give clients my undivided attention to make sure we tailor a plan that fits their individual needs. I truly enjoy working closely with families to secure their future and pass on their legacy to the next generations.”
Why did you choose to move into Novel Coworking?
“Novel Coworking’s Pioneer Square offices provided the exact workspace situation/scenario for my goal: to provide compassionate legal counseling – which means I need to be able to provide a comfortable, intimate environment. My clients appreciate the location of the building and how quiet it is compared to the giant buildings in Seattle.”
When did you first feel successful?
“It didn’t feel real until I got my decal/sign/logo on my office door! I felt successful when I had my first family get their estate plan (moderate means) during a difficult situation.”
What advice would you give someone who wants to start a business?
“KEEP GOING! It’s so easy to get discouraged and take the easy path – but it’s incredibly worth it when you start seeing your hard work pay off. Never give up, because you spend the rest of your life thinking, ‘What if I would have stuck it out for one more month? One more year?'”
What do you like about being your own boss?
“Everything! I actually enjoy getting up early and going to work. And work is done faster and more efficiently because I don’t have to wait for someone else’s approval (when I know it’s been done correctly anyway). Bosses can sometimes hinder or slow down your creativity and productivity.”
